"The scientologists can't follow one simple bit of internet wisdom: DON"T FEED THE TROLLS."

The previous issue of Wired magazine had an article about the war on scientology titled "The Assclown Offensive".  It also mentions Operation Slickpubes.  (I never heard of it before.)
The planned zombie-apocalypse for San Jose on October 10 did not go fully as planned.  Most protestors stuck to the Guy Fawkes masks.  The Los Angeles zombies however, were very organized in their lobbying for brains
October 17th in San Francisco is documented here. "Someone" called police, claiming that the protestors were smoking pot.

Or I can expect to be called a rapist.  I had such respect for the organization too.  Didn't anyone ever tell them"Don't Feed the Trolls!" ?  There are so many damn trolls of course.  One of my favorite comments that I'm sure will be ignored by Equality Now posted by an anon:

"My friends that play H-games are sociable, friendly, trustworthy, and don't harbor any negative feelings against women.
My old friends that play soccer/football smoke pot, steal, are insanely vulgar and I know one guy has raped a girl and gotten away with it."

ALSO:
"As a woman, and one who considers herself something of a feminist (an admission that will undoubtedly make me something of a pariah for a considerable number of sancon posters -.-) I can understand how Equality Now would be disturbed by images of violence against women in certain hentai. However, the percentage numbers such images being translated into actuality by viewers are undoubtedly low. I wish Equality Now would use its energy to work for (real) women who are in more immediate danger (I'm LOOKING AT YOU AFGHANISTAN)"

Speaking of Anonymous, the month of October brings about a Halloweenish theme by the Anonymous was on the "church" of scientology. Zombie Raid will be the proposed theme for October 10th. (At least in San Jose.)  Zombie costumers were swarming cinema theaters earlier this week when "Zombieland" came out.  San Francisco Co$ orgs have come under anon protest and zombie swarms before.

September 19th has been dubbed Operation Donkey Punch by the Anonymous.  The idea is to "expose" David Miscavige for what he is.  There is some talk of a "side raid" at Burning Man.  Dress up in a business suit, Guy Fawkes mask and just show up.
There is also a note on how Halloween falls on a Saturday this year.  The potential to do something HUGE is there.  After all, everyone is in costume on that day.  The month of October will see shops selling Guy Fawkes masks everywhere.

"Scientology tricks you, Anonymous treats you (to delicious caek)."

First I'm going to hit the Pistahan downtown for Pinoy goodness.  I won't enter the Balut eating contest because I know I'd lose.  Also, I need to save room for when to jaunt over to the Nihonmachi Street Fair.  Maybe I'll shop for anime that day as well.  I need to find original ADV DVDs of "Nerima Daikon Brothers".  THe FUNimation version doesn't have as many extras.
That means no time again to watch the local monthly Anons vs. Scilons spectacle.  I don't even know what the SF Anons are up to.  I do know of the big raid in San Jose this Saturday.  "Cult Fiction" is the name of the game.  Sounds like a cheesey sci-fi con on the streets.
In other news, there seems to be a lot of focus on the "White House Beer Fest", because of what led up to it as well as the fact that it's the White House.  I'm surprised 'Dubya never did one of these things.  Nor did I expect President Obama to approach a national incident in such a manner.  Anyway, I was intrigued by the beer choices.    Red Stripe could capitalize with one helluva TV ad.  "Boo to getting arrested for trying to get in your own home!"   Personally, "Boo for Obama endorsing Bud Lite!" .  It's not even American owned anymore.  I doubt it make the LCDs who voted against him like him.  Shoud've picked a local domestic microbrew.  Or at least another domestically owned beer that wasn't Bud anything.

This weekend sees the return of California Extreme, a free retro gaming arcade show being held in Santa Clara this time.  I was hoping it would be the same location in San Jose as last year.  It'd be easier to get to and I could grab some mufaleta and mudbugs at Poor House Bistro.  Is anyone with a car (hint) planning to go this Saturday?
I do not know if there are any protest against the local scilon org in San Francisco by the local anons.  Thsi weekend will be several protests in the state as usual however.  Anons in San Jose plan to wear green to show solidarity with thepeoples uprising in Iran.   Hmm, I just got a new Green Lantern Corps shirt yesterday.  I should wear it on Saturday to show my solidarity.  I've got several as I am a fan of the Green Lantern Corps
Back on topic about the grassroots revolution in Iran, it irks me so much when the authorities keep throwing around the term "counterrevolutionary".  The theocratic establishment must be so full of shit theat they can't smell their own bullshit that's got so many people riled up to begin with.  When you've had a nation in your iron grip for three decades, there's nothing revolutionary about you.

Pirate costumes will be the themefor a second year in a row as masked Anons make fun of the Sea Org . Interestingly, it seems to be all over California but I can't find anything on San Francisco activities. That doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. Work related stuff should keep me busy most of this weekend anyway.
Update: Speaking of Pirates, theNorcal Pirate Festival is next weekend.  Hoist the Colors!

Wikipedia Bans Scientology.  The very reason for doing so was made clear over a year ago in the infamous video manifesto of Anonymous.  The history of CoS "waging war" on the internet is a tale that began long ago.  Many anons are declaring EPIC WIN.  I must say it's been a busy May 2009 for those declaring war on the CoS.  See videos of counter protests against CoS fronts in San Francisco.
Fanime also saw some anons stop by for random fun.  The only real protesting done at Fanime was a revisit by some "Christian" fundies.  They admitted to being judgemental trolls.  As you can see, cosplayers don't just take it lying down.  Jesus had to come back again.  Why can't the fundies see?  WE LOVE JESUS.
According to Fanime staff heads, this guy and his flock show up to any event at the San Jose Convention Center when 1,000 or more people gather there.  It started around 2007 or so when their church got a new pastor with some "interesting" new ideas.  I wish Vic Mignogna would come to the next Fanime.  He's had experience trying to bridge anime cons and the religious as he is imersed in both worlds.
Details about my experience at Fanime are hand written in an actual journal during con.  Still better than a Twitter I think.  As staff, I was worked pretty hard.  I missed most big events such as the AMV contest and der cosplay.  Good thing at least I can catch some of the masquerade on YouTube now.

Usually the typical monthly raid by Anonymous on a local "church" of scientology involves delicious cake, music, lulz, and dancing outside a center which turtles up in the face of a hundred pranksters in Guy Fawkes masks.  Which is why the month of May can be considered special for the San Francisco cells.  The "scilons" are hyping about having "2,000" members ready to be out in full force to combat the "evil empire" that is the psychiatric and mental health establishment.  To the anons, this appears win-win.  Either the sci' folk are unable to turtle up in their compounds, or they don't show up and the anons get lulz for calling their bluff.  They will sing, dance, play internet meme songs and eat cake while in costume either way.  Quite a spectacle for sure.
San Jose this past weekend was a warm-up for the big party starting in five days.  Spectacle or farce is expected if this little preview is any indicator.  Of course the only thing I was doing in San Jose was the Fanime staff meeting.  I'm sure the anons will show up at Fanime again.  Just because.  If only to bring Jesus.    So he can RickRoll fundamentalists.
I expect to be tied up with Fanime staff business each weekend till the end of the con.

I've owned some t-shirts of "Victorion" the Victorian House giant robot by Sirron Norris for a while now.  I just found out about the mural of it on Mission Street.   I bought the shirt here.  Visit the store downtown or order online.

Anons will go on with their planned raids for Saturday, Aprill 11, 2008.   Nevermind that there will be another mass protest getting more media and police attention.  (Guess which ones the cops are more worried about?)   But the real party may be later this month when some 20,000 odd psychiatists come to San Francisco for a convention.  The "church" of scientology plans to bring "2,000" protestors against their sworn enemies at their own convention.  Of course the anons of SF cannot pass up such an opportunity to do a counter protest when the sci-lons can't run away.
This weekend is also the start of the Northen California Cherry Blossom Festival.  I'm too busy as some people on this LJ will know already.  I may not make the anime parade either because of a Fanime staff meeting.

This Saturday is the San Francisco Saint Patrick's Day Parade.  Lots of stuff going on.  Green beer will flow and Tommy's Joynt will run out of corned beef.
Annonymous will be also doing their usual worldwide protest the same day.  Here is last month's raid report.  There was also a massive pillow fight.
This Sunday is a Fanime staff meeting in San Jose at 3pm.  Perhaps those of us going could share a ride there and then maybe go toUniversity Chicken for some wings afterward? (They changed their name.)

UPDATE: Ok.  So Saturday turned out to be the meeting for Fanime.  I'm on ROVERS staff as soon as they e-mail me the code.  Hope this isn't a sign of a downfall for the con by poor planning or key people leaving the staff.

I assume the anons will have another Valentines Day worldwide raid on $cientology.  Chocolate hearts will figure into the theme I'm sure.  But I'm working on Saturday.  Which means I'll miss a day of Animation On Display again.  I've got my second job on Sunday to think about as well.
Looks like either way, I'm going to miss out on DunDraCon.  Awesome as it sounds, it's cheaper to hit the con I'm closer to.  AOD is also fairly close to where my weekend job is.

In two weeks WonderCon hits town.  It's gonna be big what with them pimping Transformers, Watchmen and all.  I can catch anything after 7pm on Friday.

I think it's time for /b/ to do something big.
That's how I remember the kickoff about a year ago.  What a crazy idea but at the same time so typical of those /b/astards.  In fact, local anons want to do TWO events this month for the anniversary.  One on the 10th and one on the 17th a week later.

I've got the wand from the Dickens Fair today.  Maybe I'll get another one with another holster if I can somehow make it back next Sunday?  So many people had to leave early or bow out at the last minute.  Still fun.  I tried some locally made Absinthe there.
I've decided to make some sandwiches for lunch tomorrow at work.  Honey Wheat Berry bread with peanut butter, strawberry jam, and honey to go with the concept of "honey wheat berry" bread.
Well, off to watch another syndicated episode of Legend of the Seeker.  Starts in a few minutes.  I'm just curious how it'll turn out.  All I can say now is it ain't Peter Jackson's version of "Lord of the Rings".  At least the wizard does scorching ray every ep so far.

In other news:  No news on the latest San Francisco raid by anons, but some side news of "war on Christmas", sort of

Anyone else who still wants to get d20 3.5 and switch to Kobold Quarterly now that Dragon Magazine is dead?

So far this Sunday, only one person is going with us to the Dickens Christmas Fair.  Perhaps I'll dork out and spring for a wand of my own this year.  He's got a few $15 wands, cheaper than most of the ones presented on the website.  Some vendors take only cash there.

Sunday, a man with a set of Japanese swords was shot by security outside the Los Angeles CoS.  He was an ex-member.   I am seeing some discussion by some anons about the ex-Scilon / "Epic Sword Guy".   They have a whole situation room thread

So the Anons did show up because the Co$ supported Prop 8. (Also claims to "cure" gays sometimes.)

So I've been reading input about the Prop 8 rage.  As I read toward the botton, it seems that the Prop H8 people really are just haters.  They see "sodomites" as pervs who shouldn't exist but somehow do so to make Jesus cry for lulz.  That seems to be the emerging pattern.  Their religious views trump the feelings of gays.  Fuck 'em, 'cause the Bible says so.  Fuck atheism and other religons.  They're all Satanic constructs anyway.
Chanology has been going on this month in San Francisco.  November 5th saw 20-25 anons on a protest raid.  It seems be the only one for this month.  I should've remembered it'd be the 5th of November.  I guess the election overshadowed planning and preparation.
The other party this month I speak of is the huge March against Prop 8 in front of City Hall this Saturday.  December 13, 2008 is declared the next time "Santa Fawkes will Raep you".  Does this mean that there could be Guy Fawkes masks showing up at City Hall this Saturday?  I talked about this on Tuesday a bit.  Perhaps very few in masks will show up as the anons against $cientology may have little else in common.  Though a good number did show up at this year's Fanime to piss off religious righties.  Just for lols, shits, and giggles.  If so, the speculation drifted to the possibility of the sight of Guy Fawkes masks sparking some form of fear or chaos.  I don't expect Chanology anons to throw any bricks or balloons given their otherwise civil conduct during CoS raids.   I can't speak for anyone else.

So what an election.  One step foreward, and how many steps back?  NPR mentioned that exit polls showed that many of the black California voters who put Obama into the White House also said they busted a cap into gay marriage.  Many go to churches that encourage such a thing.  (Who cares what other religions think?)  There is also a homophobic streak among black men as described by gay black film maker MarlonRiggs.  Because of emasculation at the hands of slave drivers, 'Kluxers, and the like, it seems that the hypermasculine homophobia was a backlash result.  As a teen, Riggs was called not only "Fag" but "Punk" in the context that a gay black man is a race traitor.  He also was pushing for African Americans to call themselves "Black" instead of "Colored" back then.  His encouragement of the term "Black" was met with "You take that back or I'll kick your black ass!"
One gay man interviewed compared the passing of Prop 2 against Prop 8 and said that voters just declared pregnant pigs more important than gays.  He was so sad.
Obama is a symbol of hope on many levels.  NPR pointed out that he did come from a humble background and still ended up going to law school, getting into politics, writing bestselling books, and reaching the highest office in America.  Will he be an icon of hope to encourage others to take the same honest path to advance in life?  An alternative role model that doesn't tuck a Glock in his pants or spin a ball or pimp JELL-O pudding pops.  (I miss those.)  Will this alter discourse over the "model minority" concept?

Moving on.  There is an upcoming world wide raid on the many buildings of $cientology.  Much Enturbulation is planned as usual, even with the site attacked.
Someone in my house is thinking TurDucHen for Thanksgiving.  Curiosity makes me look at Tofurkey.

Sounds like the latest raid wasn't as Halloween themed like I assumed/hoped.  The candy part.  There were plenty of proper Halloween costumes.  There was also cake though.

Enturbulation.org seems to be down for now. But I think the next mass protest against $cientology is going to be next weekend as the war against the "church" enters month 10. It may be Halloween themed, inviting Halloween masks into the sea of Guy Fawkes masks. There's likely to be candy. All of this I am assuming.

Update: Of course I should mention Guy Fawkes masks are for sale at Halloween stores all over. Go get one! Make Alan Moore smile.
